Find answers to all your questions

Why did the town allow Ripple Fiber to install fiber in our community?

The Federal Telecommunications Act provides for competition among data providers and allows telecommunications/broadband infrastructure to be installed. State law limits what municipalities can do regarding telecommunications companies working in the right of ways. The town does not have the authority to prohibit the installation of this infrastructure.

Public agencies and utility companies like Ripple Fiber have the right to work in a resident’s yard provided the work stays within the public right-of-way and all permits are approved by local and state municipalities.

What is the approval process for an internet provider?

The provider works with the local governing authority to submit all required site plans and permits for each area. Once received and approved, construction then begins.

Why is Ripple Fiber working in my yard?

Ripple Fiber is conducting its work in the public right-of-way easement. An easement is a legal ability to use someone else's land for a particular purpose. There are several types of easements.

  • Right-of-Way Easement - Right-of-way is an easement that allows someone to travel across another person's land to get somewhere else. It can be offered to one person, several people, or the public. This type of easement is attached to the property. An example of a right-of-way easement is the strip of land often found in front of a home on the other side of the sidewalk.
  • Utility Easements - Utility easements are the most common type of easement that concern property owners. These give utility companies the right to use a particular portion of the property.

Do I have to use Ripple Fiber as my service provider?

No, you do not. However, you will benefit from the competitive environment created by having the option to select between different service providers.

What is the timeline for our community?

Construction will be completed over several months. The start and end dates are based on the speed of progress. Upon completion of the construction, Ripple Fiber will restore the affected areas to pre-construction conditions.
