(March 27, 2025) – Fiber optic Internet provider Ripple Fiber announced in a press release that it will begin laying fiber cable in Midland on April 7, with work in neighboring Saginaw starting shortly thereafter.
This expansion adds 28,000 homes to the approximately 60,000 already under construction in Wayne County. Ripple Fiber first announced its plans to enter the Michigan market in September 2024, beginning in Allen Park, Plymouth, Livonia, Canton, Garden City, and Westland. Now, Ripple Fiber will reach $200 million in investment capital to continue expanding digital access across the region.
"With the first areas in our Michigan network now going live, Ripple Fiber is thrilled to announce the rapid expansion of our footprint beyond our initial Wayne County build," Founder and CEO of Ripple Fiber Greg Wilson said. "As we begin construction in Midland and Saginaw, we are grateful for the partnerships we've built with local municipal leaders and industry partners that enable us to bring our world-class fiber internet to even more residents across the state."
Once the construction phase begins, residents are encouraged to pre-order service online, by phone, or in person at a Ripple Fiber retail location.
Ripple Fiber is a 10-gig-ready, 100 percent fiber optic network, and residents will have access to a strong, dependable network that will power communities for decades to come. Whether using Wi-Fi for remote work, online learning, gaming, or video streaming, customers can expect exceptional bandwidth and symmetrical upload and download speeds. The provider offers multiple package options, with three core products leading the way—500 Mbps, 1 Gig, and 2 Gig.
"The advancement of technology in Midland is extremely important as we aim to ensure our residents have digital access that aligns with the evolution of the telecommunications industry," Midland City Manager Brad Kaye said. "Ripple Fiber has a clear view of their vision for enhancing the current infrastructure in our city and providing choice to our residents. We're eager to see their designs come to fruition and witness the positive impact it will bring to our community."
