(March 27, 2025) – Ripple Fiber, a fiber optic internet provider based in the Southeast, will begin construction in Midland, Michigan on April 7, 2025, with work in neighboring Saginaw starting shortly after. This expansion adds 28,000 more homes to the approximately 60,000 already under construction in Wayne County. Ripple Fiber first announced its plans to enter the Michigan market in September 2024, beginning in Allen Park, Plymouth, Livonia, Canton, Garden City, and Westland. Now, Ripple Fiber will reach $200 million in investment capital to continue expanding digital access across the region.

Aiming to begin service to Holden and West Boylston in mid-2025, Ripple Fiber intends to invest over $140 million in the first phase of their Northeast rollout of a 10 gig-ready network.

“Our entrance into Massachusetts represents a significant achievement in expanding our national footprint, with our upcoming build establishing our presence in the Northeast region,” Greg Wilson, founder and CEO of Ripple Fiber, said in a Wednesday press release announcing the rollout. “The collaborative partnerships we’ve built with each municipality, including West Boylston, are invaluable in shaping and delivering critical infrastructure projects of this scale.”

With the rollout of Ripple Fiber, Holden residents and businesses will now have alternative options to Spectrum, which has been the only wired internet provider in the town.

“We have been very impressed with Ripple Fiber's professionalism and expertise,” Peter Lukes, Town Manager of Holden, said in the press release. “They've worked well with our town departments, bringing this plan to fruition in a very short time. I know that Holden residents will be thrilled to finally have options when choosing internet providers.”

Construction in additional areas in Worcester County is expected to begin soon, with more specific announcements coming later in 2025. Pre-orders will be available when Ripple Fiber finalizes its build areas.

Founded in 2021, Ripple serves communities in North Carolina and South Carolina, with plans for expansion into Michigan in the works, according to its website.
