(June 10, 2025) – North Carolina-based fiber provider Ripple Fiber has acquired BridgeNET Fiber in an effort to expand into Statesville, where the acquired company is headquartered.

The press release about the acquisition says that Ripple Fiber, which operates a 10 Gbps network, expects to add 18,000 passings, though it offers no timeframe or expected take rate. The release does not disclose financial terms of the transaction.

BridgeNET founder and president Taylor Brown now is the managing director of Ripple Fiber’s Statesville network. The release also says that other BridgeNET employees will be employed by Ripple Fiber.

“Since launching, BridgeNET has passed over 3,000 homes, built real momentum, and proved they can stack up to competitors in the region on quality and pace. They have kept their customers close and executed their own installations, while remaining grounded in local partnerships. BridgeNET has established a reputation to be proud of,” Founder and CEO of Ripple Fiber founder and CEO Greg Wilson in a press release.

“As a result of this acquisition, Statesville residents will get the fiber internet they deserve, supporting BridgeNET’s mission to expand digital access across the community. We’re eager to introduce Ripple Fiber to current and future customers, with the local support of Taylor and his team.”

This is not the first time Ripple Fiber has acquired assets in North Carolina. Last October, the company acquired the assets of Cloudwyze, which extended its operation to Harnett, Martin, and Nash counties.

Two months earlier — in August, 2024 — Ripple Fiber announced a partnership with Open Broadband, an internet service provider focused on underserved areas of South Carolina. The joint initiative followed the granting of an award in 2023 to Open Broadband from the South Carolina Broadband Office to provide broadband to residents of Woodruff South Carolina. The project, which was expected to be finished last December 2024 included plans to serve more than 750 homes.
