Every customer deserves the White Glove treatment. Our Ripple Fiber technicians are trained to ensure the setup of your fiber internet service runs smoothly. Once your order is confirmed, we’ll begin communicating next steps and how best to prepare for your installation appointment. Upon arrival, your technician will assess your home or business and create a tailored plan for your equipment setup. Step by step, we'll fine-tune every detail so your connection performs at its best.
Before We Arrive
Your technician will give you a call when they’re on their way, so you’ll know exactly what time to expect them. Prior to your appointment, they will already know the services you’ve ordered. That said, it helps to think about where you’d like your equipment placed, whether that’s a home office, living room, or another central spot.
Upon Arrival
As soon as your technician enters your space, they will put on boot covers to keep everything clean and tidy. Setup will start with checking the Network Interface Device (NID) and then discussing with you where you’d like the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and router to be located. They will also confirm if you’ll be using Ripple Fiber’s Wi-Fi equipment or if you already have a whole-home Wi-Fi system installed.
Your technician will walk you through the best route to bring the fiber into your home and ensure the placement of your equipment is optimal for your home or business. Before moving onto the next steps, they will check existing Wi-Fi coverage and capture existing username and password information.
During Your Installation
After installing your equipment, your technician will typically use those same credentials to ensure all your devices, from laptops and TVs to thermostats and security cameras, connect to Wi-Fi seamlessly. If you'd prefer a new Wi-Fi username and password, they can help you set that up. They will then switch off your previous equipment to avoid interference with your new Ripple Fiber connection.
If you'd like, your technician will hardwire equipment to the ONT and show you that you’re receiving the speeds you paid for. This doesn’t include running any new home cabling, but they’ll ensure everything works as expected. Please note, your technician won’t test speeds through your existing Wi-Fi extenders, as we can’t guarantee they’ll support multi-gig speeds. Additionally, any need for extenders will be determined during this step.
Before We Leave
Before wrapping up, your technician will confirm that you’re satisfied with the installation. If you have any questions about your equipment functionality, this is the perfect time to ask. Your technician will also clean up any mess made during the installation and ensure that all holes are sealed properly.
After Your Appointment
You'll already have a physical Welcome Kit and Equipment Guide in hand, but you also have access to the comprehensive resource guides available on our website’s Support page. These guides provide answers to common questions and troubleshooting needs, plus they can direct you to your customer portal and further technical support as needed.
